  (1)
Rooms are not assigned until a deposit is received.  Most participants say that the mill is the most magnificent place they're ever stayed! If you wish to stay in the mill,  register early-- it is on a first-come, first-served basis.

(2)    A deposit of $300, per person, is due upon reservation and  is non-refundable.
(3)    All payment is due before April 15.

Stipends: To encourage a mix of participants, a limited number of stipends are available to full-time college students & to lower-income persons.  In addition, a stipend of $300-- for either course offered in French-- will be offered in the memory of Latitudinale Theo Steele To be eligible for these stipends, please register by January 15.

A special rate is also available for participants from within a radius of 50 km from Latitude
who return to their homes nightly.

Lodging
Participants stay either at (1) Latitude or (2) in nearby gîtes ( fully-equipped, rented home) and/or B&Bs.

Rooms vary in terms of  level of comfort & amenities. The hangar bedroom (with riverview balcony, w.c., bathtub) &  2 mill bedrooms are rated "Superior";  the 2 other hangar bedrooms and the single mill bedroom are rated Standard.   Most Gîtes  (fully-equipped holiday homes rented by the week) and B&Bs that Latitude uses are rated Superior . However, there are several Standard and/or single rooms in some gites; those who book early have the best chance of securing one of these.

Total cost, 2008

The cost per person, per course, based on double occupancy, depends on your lodging choice :  Typically, Superior  rooms are tastefully furnished with private bathrooms. Standard rooms have private or semi-private bathrooms & are nicely furnished. Superior --  Two double mill bedrooms or double riverside bedroom in the restored tobacco hangar: $1700.  Standard -- Two other double tobacco hangar bdrms, the single mill bedroom  $1350.

Gites and B&Bs: Most are ranked as Superior lodging, but  some have rooms rated Standard.  Single supplements apply.

SINGLE OCCUPANCY: Please add $420 for single occupancy of mill double bedrooms and hangar riverside bedroom. Add  $310 for single occupancy of the two other hangar bedrooms.   Thus,  if staying  in  Superior lodging (such as the mill double or queen bedrooms), the total week's total cost (lodging, instruction, meals) for single occupancy is $2120.   In a standard room, the week's total is $1660.

Non-participating friends, spouses, and relatives  are welcome!  They pay all expenses --food, lodging, administrative costs--except the course itself. Thus, deduct $450 from the total.

If you register for 2 courses during the same week, add $450 to the cost for the week to your base price.
Based on double occupancy, the total cost per person, per week for one course (excluding possible supplemental fees, such as  transport) is as follows: Superior  --  $1700;   Standard -- $1350.

Notes: (1) One bedroom in the mill is a single bedroom. However, the occupant must pass thru the main bedroom to get to this very cozy room (see photos at Take a tour of the Mill on the Accommodations page), so he or she should be a  friend or relative of the occupants of the main bedroom.
(2) If you are amenable to sharing a car, please let us know so we can put you in touch with other participants.

Currency  Payment can be made either in U.S. dollars or euros.  (Note that the euro-dollar and euro-pound rate fluctuates.)

For  U.S., Canadian, and Ecuadorian participants:  Pay everything you can --e.g., car rental, air tickets-- in dollars before you depart for Europe. The rates are better. The ever-fluctuationg exchange rate (dollar-euro) favors U.S. exporters, not tourists. At this writing,  the  euro is very strong vis-a-vis the dollar.

Use an ATM card (rather than Travellers' Cheques or an exchange at the airport or elsewhere) to change money;  the ATM card offers the best rate. Be sure to have the proper number of digits as your code before leaving the States. (Best to check with the card- issuer.)

Please remember: There is a non-refundable deposit of $300 and a cancellation fee. The amount of the cancellation fee depends upon the date of written confirmation of the cancellation. (Details on Booking Form.) You are greatly encouraged to get travel and medical insurance in case of emergencies. Note: One recent participant i could not attend a course due to a death in her family. Luckily, she had travel insurance which reimbursed her airfare and Latitude payment.
